Identity
Tomorrow

IDX is all about bringing “friends” of SSI together and offering the opportunity to exchange ideas on the current topics around decentralized identities. Look forward to exciting keynote speeches and networking opportunities!

Facts

Topic: “Global Perspective of Identity Systems”
When: 23. February 2023
Where: Saarbrücker Straße 18, 10405 Berlin

About the event

“When digital transformation is done right, it’s like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. But when done wrong, all you have is a really fast caterpillar.” (George Westerman, MIT Sloan Initiative on the digital economy)

The introduction of decentralized identities is being driven worldwide via national & international projects. The time is ripe to stop talking about theories and start discussing and implementing concrete approaches. The development and implementation poses new challenges to companies, which can only be solved in joint cooperation. With IDX, myEGO would like to initiate a new series of events with the goal of bringing enthusiastic people together. Impulse lectures as well as panel discussions with subsequent Q&A on critical topics are planned. The focus is on exchange and networking.

Speaker

Speaker: Roger Heines – Projektmanager (Business Engineering Institute St. Gallen)

Roger has been working in technology consulting for more than 5 years where he gained international project experience in various transformation projects with a focus on operational efficiency improvements and IT strategy in the manufacturing, automotive and finance industries, among others.

In the context of his doctorate, he also dealt with new business models based on blockchain technology and was able to contribute this knowledge to various digitalization projects and initiatives. To show how these technologies add value to the financial industry, particular insights could be gained in the implementation for customer onboarding of banks with decentralized identities based on the Hyperledger Framework.

As a consultant, Roger is currently responsible for the implementation of a proof of concept in the area of inheritance at the Business Engineering Institute St. Gallen. Together with project partners of the initiative “Openbankingproject.ch”, financial service providers, municipalities and providers, a trust network based on a Self Sovereign Identity (SSI) solution architecture is being developed to holistically improve the settlement for all parties involved.

Speaker: Alex Kantrowitz – senior tech reporter at “buzzFeed News,” Mirror Award winner for his coverage of social media and editor of “Always Day One”

Alex Kantrowitz is the founder of Big Technology, a newsletter and podcast about Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft.

His first book ALWAYS DAY ONE: How The Tech Titans Plan To Stay On Top Forever debuted in April 2020. His work has been referenced by dozens of major publications, from The New Yorker to The Wall Street Journal to Sports Illustrated.

Kantrowitz is a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

Speaker: Werner Fontanive –
DELOITTE

A known business leader with prior executive posts at IBM and WIPRO Technologies as well as SWISS POST, the national postal service of Switzerland. Mr. Fontanive plays an integral role in launching a new Know Your Client (“KYC”) product for the Logistics and Cargo industry for DELOITTE by combining Know Your Customer and Know Your Cargo for its clients into a new international platform with global reach throughout the entire DELOITTE network.

Mr. Fontanive also brings a wide range of international experience in major account management, strategic program development, governmental liaisons as well as diplomatic relations to open co-development partnerships and joint deployments for DELOITTE’s NSE region including the major ASIAPAC financial and logistic hub Singapore.

“Similar to where the financial services industry was 20-to-30 years ago, the freight cargo industry finds itself at the precipice of a major paradigm shift powered by big data, and DELOITTE is one of the major drivers of that data revolution,” remarked Mr. Fontanive.

Roger Heines

“When it comes to decentralized identities, pioneering work is still needed to put theory into practice. The seminar showed me that this can only succeed in a collaborative and interdisciplinary framework. I really enjoyed the exchange and discussions with experts and practitioners from different backgrounds in a relaxed and open atmosphere. Processes are not merely digitized, but have to be rethought. I can take the valuable impulses and insights into account for the practical transfer in our innovation projects and look forward to participating again if possible.” (Roger Heines – Project Manager – Business Engineering Institute St. Gallen)
